Glenda Lucille "Tex" Smith Wilson

Glenda Lucille "Tex" Smith Wilson, 74, of Kingsport, passed away on February 13, 2016 at her home. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Glenda moved to Kingsport during high school and graduated from Sullivan High School. She received her nursing degree and worked in surgery at Holston Valley Hospital until Henry Jackson and Sam Jones opened Kingsport OB/GYN Group. Glenda remained with them until the office closed in December of 1999. She then became the office manager for Dr. Susanne Toynes. Once Dr. Toynes closed the practice, Glenda began working at Gastroenterology for the remaining of her working career. She loved sports... every sport! Glenda especially loved Dobyns-Bennett sports, where in 1986-1987 she was the president of the Quarterback Club. She loved her children, but always said, "Life began when she became a Granmama." She was a member of Christ Fellowship Church. "Mom, you will be missed so much, We love you! You were the greatest mom! Until we meet again!"

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Ellis Smith and Iris Lee Akers Smith; granddaughter, Amy Suzette Wilson; grandson, Justin Todd Wilson; niece, Christy Cleek Glover; nephew, Nicki Cleek; and her special furry four-legged children, McGriff and Bentley.

Glenda is survived by the father of her children, Jackie Wilson and wife Judy; son, Tim Wilson and wife, Jessica; daughters, Vicki D. Wilson, Donna Wilson Richardson and son-in-law Michael K. Richardson; children's brother, Brandon Wilson and wife, Liana; grandchildren, Kris Wilson and wife Holly, Daniel Wilson and wife Melissa, Jackson B. Richardson, Rachel Wilson France and husband Richard, Paxton Richardson Goebel and husband Danny, Anaston Lee Richardson, and Sheena Wilson; great-grandchildren, Emma, Cole, and Maddie Wilson, Erin Holden, and Issac France, and Justin and Madalyn Wilson; sister, Marilyn Cleek and husband Johnny; nephew, Brett Cleek; several cousins; and very special best friends, Dr. Sam Jones and wife Doris, Gwen Marsh, Sabrina Flanigan Steele, and Alice Horne.

It was mom's wish to be cremated.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the residence of her son, Tim Wilson, 120 Sylvan Dr., Kingsport, TN 37663.
