Glenn Allan Hackler

Glenn Allan Hackler, age 85, passed away on December 31, 2024, at home in the presence of family. He was born July 9, 1939, and had resided in Kingsport since early childhood. Glenn attended Dobyns-Bennett High School. He began his 30-year professional career as a Teamster union member at Mason-Dixon Freight Lines and finished his career as an over-the-road truck driver for Roadway Express where he received several Safety awards.

Glenn was a devoted husband of 67 years to wife Carolyn (Deal) Hackler and loving father and grandfather. He was a loyal and caring friend and family man who always gave of himself expecting nothing in return. He carried a witty personality and a sly smile that will always be remembered. Glenn was a proud American and a Christian whose life was saved through a Charles Stanley sermon. He was a member of the body of Christ and abundantly blessed by Southview Community Church. Glenn’s exceptional mechanical talents and passion for vehicles were evident through his work and hobbies. He enjoyed collecting and restoring vintage cars and tinkering with anything that had moving parts. He had an affinity for racing and enjoyed watching Nascar and Dirt track events in his spare time. 

Glenn was preceded in death by parents Wayne and Louise Carr Hackler. He is survived by wife Carolyn (Deal) Hackler; daughter, Kimberly Hackler Salyer; son, Craig Hackler and wife Tina; special daughter, Mary Meehan and husband Tom; grandsons, Lukas Salyer and wife Mary, Stefan Hackler and wife Blair; granddaughter, Candice Hackler, and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Southview Community Church, Kingsport. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. officiated by Rev. Larry Sykes, Pastor Bill Willis and Grandson Lukas Salyer. Burial will immediately follow at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Blountville, TN in the Garden of Everlasting Life.

Pallbearers will be Craig Hackler, Stefan Hackler, Lukas Salyer, and John Linville. The family would like to express their love and appreciation for the compassionate care given to Glenn by Amedisys of Kingsport.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southview Community Church, 1235 Moreland Drive, Kingsport, TN 37664 or Shades of Grades United Methodist Church, 313 E. Sullivan Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
