I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7 & 8
Glenn Donivan Hagood, 83, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Glenn was born August 9, 1940, to parents Luke and Joda Hagood in Hawkins County, Tennessee. After graduating from Ketron High School, Glenn went on to proudly serve his country as part of the United States Air Force, traveling west to places such as California and Arizona. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he entered the work force. Glenn spent most of his career working for Mead Paper, where he would eventually retire from. Glenn was known as a dedicated craftsman who could create or fix mostly anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed spending time outdoors but most importantly he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren who knew him as “Papaw G”. He was a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church of Kingsport for over 60+ years. It is without a doubt that Glenn will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will be greatly cherished.
In addition to his parents, Glenn is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Betty Frances Hagood.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Hagood (Joni) and Brian Hagood (Andrea); daughter, Kristi Steadman (Barry); grandchildren, Adam Hagood (Katie), Kali Redman (Ryan), Audra Steadman, Luke Steadman, Ashtyn Hagood and Caleb Hagood; great-grandchildren, Michael Hagood, Jesse Hagood and Silas Redman; sister, Peggy Cole; brother, Jerry Hagood, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport Chapel. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Adam Hagood and Rev. Danny Sykes will follow at 7:00pm, and music to be provided by Ryan Redman.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11:00am at Oak Hill Memorial Park, with military honors presented by the American Legion Posts 3/265. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00am to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Adam Hagood, Luke Steadman, Caleb Hagood, Marcus Osborne, Chad Domby and Ryan Redman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International P.O. Box 3688, Johnson City, TN 37602-3688.
