BLOUNTVILLE: Glenn Rhea Jones, 70, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born September 30, 1939, to the late Ernest and Ruth Jones of Kingsport. Glenn was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1997. He served his community well and faithfully through many organizations, including coaching and refereeing local youth soccer, the Optimist Club, and the Shriners, being a member of Holston Lodge 559. He was a faithful member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. He enjoyed being Pa and Papaw to his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Wayne Jones and Jack Jones.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris Lawson Jones; two sons, Kent Jones and wife Gail, Mansfield, GA, and Brad Jones and wife Meredith, Blountville, TN; five grandchildren, Zackary Jones, Reagan Jones, Alexa Jones, Joshua Harper, and Jessica Bridwell; one brother, Leroy Jones and wife Patty, Fall Branch, TN; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Jones, Kingsport, and Betty Lawson, Nashville; two brothers-in-law, Tommy Lawson and wife Elsie, Lithonia, GA, and Darrell Lawson and wife Lisa, Eidson, TN; many aunts, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4:30 until 6:30 at Sunnyside Baptist Church. Services will follow at 6:30, with Rev. A. Richard Ratliff, Rev. Jack Parrot, and Rev. Roy Graves officiating. Masonic rites will follow the service.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Sunnyside Baptist Church Building Fund, 406 Cooks Valley Road, Kingsport, TN 37664.
