Glenna Pearl Sherfey

Glenna Pearl Sherfey, 86, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Wexford House in Kingsport after a period of declining health. Pearl was born on August 2, 1926 in Buchanan County, VA. She moved to Kingsport as a child and married Adrian Marshall Sherfey on July 27, 1948. They spent most of their married years in the Fall Branch area. Pearl was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her gentle, loving spirit and Christian character will be missed by all who knew her. She loved her church, Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church, and attended faithfully as long as her health allowed.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Marshall Sherfey on March 27, 2012; parents, Charlie and Rosa Davis; and brothers, Leonard "Lynn" Davis, and James Walker "Speedy" Davis.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Bill Vanderpool of Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Melissa Sherfey of Fall Branch; special son and caregiver, Joel Scott Sherfey of Jonesborough; granddaughters, Jaime Duncan and Nicole Vanderpool of Kingsport; grandson, Derrek Pugh of Johnson City; great-grandson, Colton Seal of Kingsport; sisters, Mary Muncey of Plain City, OH, Arlena Free and husband, Jackie of Kingsport, and Aunt Nancy Mitchem Wagner of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7:00 pm at Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Randy Waller officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 am at Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church, 2783 Rock Springs Rd., Kingsport, TN 37664, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 N. Boone St., Johnson City, TN 37604.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Hunter and staff and the Wexford House for the loving care they provided for Pearl.
