Golan Cox English, 79, of Kingsport, died Monday evening, July 19, 2010, at Greystone Healthcare in Blountville after an extended illness. She was born in Buladean, NC, and had resided in Kingsport since 1941. She was a homemaker and a member of Summersville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. English; a daughter, Pamela Roberts; a sister, Jane Lockhart; and a brother, W. G. Cox.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosey Kitzmiller and husband, Richard, and Robin Hill and husband, Rick, all of Kingsport; sons, Jerry English and wife Carolyn, of Kingsport, Rick English and wife, Donna, of Blountville, and Jim English and wife, Lisa, of Kingsport; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville Cox and wife, Nancy, of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7, with Rev. Ron Bradshaw officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Blountville. Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Roberts, Clint Cox, Austin English, Cody Jobe, Josh Laney, and Jason Roberts.
