Golda "Goldie" Walters

Golda Pearl "Peach" Speers Walters, 87, Kingsport, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013 after years of declining health at Wexford House surrounded by her family.

Golda was born and raised in Blackwater, Virginia and moved to Church Hill when she went to work at TEC in the Winding department.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Susie Speers; husband, George Walters; her brothers, Benny, Curtis, Jim and Harold Speers; sister, Edna Speers; son-in-law, Mike Cordell.

Golda is survived by her daughters Patsy Cordell of Church Hill and Betty (Jeff) Pierce, Kingsport; grandchildren, Amy (Rick) Nelson, Jonathan (Allison) Cordell, Sarah (Joe) Roberts and Allison Pierce; great-grandchildren, Alex Crawford, Logan, Morgan and Weston Cordell and Abigail Roberts; her sisters, Rita Ramey, Kathleen Ramey, and Frances Feagins; and many nieces and nephews.

Golda was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Mt. Carmel and attended New Fellowship Ministries and Oak Grove Baptist Church, Gray, with her daughters as her health allowed.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013,
at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers at Wexford House.
