"Granny Faye" Lane

"Granny Faye", 87, was called home Friday, July 30, 2010 at her home.

She was born in Chuckey, TN and had resided in Kingsport most of her life. She owned and operated 93 Superette and had also worked at Holston Valley Hospital.

Granny Faye attended Living Word Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and collecting dolls. Granny Faye enjoyed having visitors and always made them feel welcome. She was the Matriarch of the family and was very loved and precious to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary McIntosh Fields and Martin Luther Fields; her husband of 61 years, Johnny B. Lane; one daughter, Joella Dingus; one granddaughter, Shirley Dingus, one grandson, Joseph Brian Lane; one great-grandson, Michael Lee Dingus; three brothers, Russell Fields, Ransom Fields, and Burgess Fields; one sister, Ophelia Lawson; and two sons-in-law, Ira Dingus and Rev. Roy Pendergrass.

Survivors include one son, Larry "Pap" Lane and wife, Rose Lane; two daughters, Joyce Pendergrass of Fall Branch and Linda Rigsby and husband, Lewin Rigsby of Gray; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Kock officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Mike Dingus, Steve Dingus, Scott Pendergrass, Johnny Dingus, Dwayne Rigsby, Jason Lane, Shawn Dingus, Greg Dingus, Clay Pendergrass, Matthew Payne, and Justin Alexander.

Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Fields.
