Granville Ray Grizzle

Granville Ray Grizzle, age 60, of East Carter s Valley, passed away Thursday morning, September 2, 2010.

Ray was born August 19th, 1950 in Scott County to Thurman and Etta Grizzle. He graduated from Gate City High School and worked many years at Kingsport Press and later worked for the City of Kingsport where he retired.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Grizzle in 2007.

Surviving are his sisters, Eulene Sissy Smith and husband, James of Gate City, Nancy Wininger and husband, Frankie of Gate City, Helen Turner and husband, David of Roanoke, Texas, Susie McMurray and husband, Daniel of Weber City and Evelyn Chavis and husband Johnny of Orangeburg, SC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ray also leaves behind a dear friend, Joe Hash and his faithful Jack Russell, Heidi.

The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8th from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

The graveside service will begin at 2:00pm at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Eckel Herron and Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Baker, Dennie Haynes, Timmy Dougherty, Mickey Willis, Joe Hash and Sonny Otts.

Special music will be provided by Marcus and Christie Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children s Hospital; P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142; in memory of his mother, Etta Grizzle.
