Greg ?Greggo? Sparks, 59, of Mount Carmel went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 9, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was raised in Winchester, Tennessee, and moved to Kingsport in 1967. Greg had a 30-year career at Eastman and 9½ years at Meadowview Marriott. His hobby was riding his motorcycle.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Dorothy June Sparks; his father, Carlos H. Sparks; and a brother, Christopher Sparks.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Sparks; two daughters, Arminda ?Mindy? Sparks, of the home, Wendy Sparks Hicks and husband, Jamie, Mount Carmel; one son, Jeffrey Sparks and wife, Kelly, Lake Mary, Florida; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Hicks and Kayla Hicks; one sister, Claudia Welch and husband, Richard, Hendersonville, TN; four brothers, Steve Sparks and wife, Jean, Hendersonville, Randy Sparks and wife, Vickie of Rusk, Texas, Carl Sparks, Nashville, Jonathan Sparks and wife, Teresa, Thompson Station, TN; and his stepmother, Carol Sparks, Nashville.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Tri-Cities Baptist Church. Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Arden Taylor and Pastor Ron Lowe officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James Gilliam, Joe Nance, Mike Lowe, Bud Williams, Doug Moss, and Rauls Bradford. Honorary pallbearers will be John Butler and George Butler.
