Gregory Allen Smith, 44, from Kingsport, formerly of Fall Branch, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Indian Path Medical Center.

Before becoming disabled Mr. Smith was employed in the food industry, having worked for several years at the Moose Lodge and Partners Barbeque in Kingsport. He later was employed by Comfort Inns in Elizabethton.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Trula Gardner Smith Kirkpatrick; his grandparents, Beryl and Mary Smith of Fall Branch, and Trammel and Mae Gardner of the Bethesda Community.

Survivors are his father, Jerry Allen Smith, formerly of Fall Branch and now of Kingsport; his sisters, Tracie Smith of Kingsport, Tennille Smith of Kingsport; uncles and aunts, Randy and Debbie Smith of Nashville, Jim and Lisa Dyer of Greeneville, TN; a special niece, Taylor Rae Anderson of Kingsport; a special cousin, Jessica Lee Dyer of Greeneville, Melissa Atnip and husband of Nashville; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family provided the following statement: ?Greg was a very fun-loving person and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had been an avid NASCAR fan since childhood. He was very close to all of his family and friends and was a joy to be around. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends, who loved him dearly.?

The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Friday with the funeral service to follow. Rev. Carl Strickler will officiate.

The family will be at the funeral home to go in procession at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to New Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery on the Horton Highway for burial at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Jarrett, Darrell ?Scooter? Ledford, Bobby Smith, Randy Street, Luke Anderson, Darrin Laws, Davis Francis, and Alberto Losoya.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Brewer, Kim Mills, Alan Cash, Eddie Helbert, Dan Lowe, and Brian Saddler.
