Grover Charles Bolton, 73, Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Wellmont Hospice House after an extended battle with leukemia.
He was born in Greene County and moved to Washington County and Florida in the year 2000 spending summers in Washington County and winters in Florida. Mr. Bolton retired from AFG Industries after 41 years of service.
He enjoyed fishing in Florida, was president of the Homeowners Association in Florida for several years, president of the AFG Credit Union in Kingsport for several years, and was a former Magistrate in Greene County North District. Mr. Bolton was also a part time manager of Sew-Vac Sales and Service in Kingsport, was a member of the Baileyton Ruritan for many years, and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington for three years during the Korean Conflict.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Sam and Audrey Bolton of Greeneville, TN; one sister, Mary Alice Hensley, Baileyton Community; and one brother, Ray Bolton.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Maye Pickering Bolton, Fall Branch; three daughters, Darlene Bryant and husband, Charles, Memphis, Susie Bolton, Kingsport, Teresa Bass and husband, Gary, of South Carolina; one son, Robert Samuel Bolton and wife, Beckie, of West Virginia; five grandchildren, Angela Neas Gilmore, Brett Neas, Hannah Bass, Alex Bass, and Jamey Bolton; two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Gilmore and Bailey Gilmore; and four brothers, Kermit Bolton and wife, Marie, Church Hill, Paul Bolton and wife, Genieve, Chuckey, Waylon Bolton and wife, Nancy, Baileyton, and Bill Bolton and wife, Judy, Greeneville.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Walter Pickering brother of wife, Maye officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 3/265.
Pallbearers will be Jim Surbaugh, Don Whittingham, Dwight Morrison, Arley Partin, Fred Duncan, Jim Woods, Hagen Bowen, and James Rector.
