Grover C. Everhart, Jr., 88, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at The Wexford House. He was born in Persia, TN and had lived in Kingsport for most of his life. Grover worked as an apprentice tailor as early as age 11. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army as a radio operator. Following his return, he worked as a tailor for himself and several clothiers in Kingsport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Everhart; parents, Grover Everhart and Ola Everhart Glover; grandson, Douglas Lynn Walker; sister, Eileen Hobbs; and brother-in-law, Paul Hobbs.
Grover is survived by three daughters, Karen Walker of Knoxville, Kathy McDavid of Kingsport, and Jane Bowman and husband, Larry of Eden, NC; three grandchildren, Brian Walker and wife, Kellie, Stephanie McDavid, and Nathan McDavid and Nikki Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Walker, Natalie Walker and Brandon Walker; brother, Glenn Everhart and wife, Ruth of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 25th from 1-2:30 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Kaye Florence officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Grover's beloved caregivers, Patti Jo Dixon, Tonia Smith, Heather Daugherty, Vindetta Fleming, Mellanee Gott, and the nurses and CNA's of The Wexford House.
