Gwendolyn Long, 69 of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 20, 1939, in Rogersville, Tennessee, and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Gwendolyn loved to spend time with her family and friends and also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.
Preceding her in death were a son, Pete Long; and her parents, Dorothy Bowlin Wilder and James Nelson Wilder.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Alfred Long; two daughters, Helen Long of Kingsport and Patricia Perkins of Jonesborough, TN; five sons, David Long and his wife Lisa, James Long and his wife Charlene, Scott Long, Jerry Long and his wife Lora, all of Kingsport, and Jack Long and his wife Debra of Bloomington, Indiana; and a daughter-in-law Gayla Long of Bluff City, TN.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, and any time at the home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Roy Brickey officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Family members and friends will serve at pallbearers.
