Gwendolyne Frances Chisholm Nicksic passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, at the age of 89. Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy Clyne and Raymond Chisholm; her husband, Henry (Nick) Nicksic; grandson, Jeffery Nicksic; and her partner, Roy MacPherson. She will be sadly missed by her children, Bradley Nicksic and wife Cindy of Kingsport, Kimberly Nicksic Ratliff of Kingsport and Pamela Nicksic Thornton and husband Mike Thornton of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Nicholas Ratliff and wife Katie, their daughter, Emory, Jamie Ratliff and husband Adam and their children, Elaina and Asher; great-granddaughter Madison Nicksic of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Phillip Sanders and wife Shannon and their children Alyssa and Devon; and her best friend, Glenda Domby.
Gwen was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and graduated from the School of Radiology in 1954. She lived in Salt Lake City, where she met Nick and married and eventually moved to Kingsport where they raised their children. Gwen was blessed with a loving family and friends. She loved life to the fullest, from her love of cooking and baking, hosting dinner parties, playing golf and traveling. Gwen spent her winters in Panama City Beach and summers in Turkey Point, Ontario.
We want to thank The Blake for their loving staff who mom created a special bond with and with the residents. We want to thank Smokey Mountain Hospice Care for taking care of mom during the final stages of her life and making her comfortable.
Services will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 584 Lebanon Rd., Kingsport, TN. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church (formerly St. Christopher’s) Memorial Fund, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Alzheimer Association.
