Hank O. Johnson, 41, Bluefield, West Virginia, formerly of Kingsport, TN, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007.
Hank was a 1983 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and was employed at Bluefield Beverage and Bluefield College. He was a talented artist, avid bike rider, and spent many hours a week at the gym lifting weights, swimming, and performing martial arts.
Hank was a reserve officer with the Sullivan County Sheriff?s Department, where he volunteered lots of his time to the Explorer Post.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oakley and Jeanette Johnson; and maternal grandparents, Gus and Fannie Adkins; paternal grandmother, Nora Anderson; and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Johnson of the home; two daughters, Tiffany Johnson and Kara Johnson, both of Kingsport; one granddaughter, Hannah Rose, due in August; one sister, Susan Johnson Roberts and husband Larry, Kingsport; one niece, Heather Feagins, Knoxville; two nephews, Matthew Feagins and Joshua Ray, both of Kingsport; three half-sisters, Sheila Payne, Hampton, VA, Lucy Rodney, Ft. Mohave, AZ, and Sue Jurcsak, Parker, AZ; one half-brother, Ronald Johnson, Hampton, VA; very special friend, Tina Davis, Elizabethton, TN; mother of his children, Pamela Shaffer; and many friends, who he worked and played with.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 12 noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Evangelist Willy Shaffer officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens in Castlewood, VA.
Pallbearers will be Derick Whitt, Anthony Dawson, Jimmy Kelly, Matthew Feagins, Joshua Ray, and David Shaffer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Walls, Dennis Jessie, Trevor Asbury, Eric Clear, Greg Brown, fellow employees, and bike riding buddies.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Johnson City Medical Center, especially the ICU on 2900.
