Harland "Coonie" Conkin

Harland "Coonie" Conkin, 90, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Holston Manor Nursing Home.

Coonie retired from Wayne Construction as a foreman. He also enjoyed farming.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Haseltean Conkin; daughter, Connie June Conkin; parents, Bessie and Charlie Conkin; sisters, Bonnie Ball, Stacey Mullenix; brother, Neil Conkin, Guy Conkin, Fred Conkin, Jack Conkin, and Joe Conkin.

He is survived by his daughter, Jean Cash and husband, Ralph; grandchildren, Donna Gladson and husband, Donnie, Carolyn Brown and husband, Grant, and Lisa Cash; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Wallen, Andrew Lee, Jennifer Gladson, Monique Hall, Xavier Hall, and Jade Brown; great-great-grandchildren, Bailey and Kiya Wallen; brother, Gene Conkin; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Betty Paul, Ralph Bell, Toy Earl Simpson, Roy Mowell, Ralph Mowell, and Ralph Littleton.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday March 28, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

A graveside will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Walker's Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Dan Dolen officiating. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 3/265.
