Harold C. Guthrie

Harold C. Guthrie, 89, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Harold was married to Nell McMurray on August 1, 1949. They were married 67 years and were blessed to love three great children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Harold joined our nations Army at the age of 18. He then served in WWII. Harold also served in the Air Force as well as continuing service in both Air Force and Army Reserves. He retired from the Army Reserves at the ranking of Sargent Major. Harold served as Commander of Hammond Post 3 Americal Legion as well as President of the Bloomingdale Ruitan. He worked at Eastman Kodak for 35 years before retiring. Harold C. Guthrie was known as a man of integrity and shared his love for the Lord with everyone he knew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, King and Annabell Guthrie; son, Dannie Guthrie; daughter, Lesa Ann Guthrie.

Our friend Harold is survived by his wife, Nell Guthrie; daughter, Teresa and husband, Dewayne Chappell; granddaughters, Michele and husband Roddie Nelson, and Charnell Anderson; grandson, Daniel Addison; great-grandchildren, Tyler Pannell, Talia Nelson, Tristen Nelson, and Ezra Wegner; sister, Ruth Morton of Harlen, KY; four nephews; and two nieces.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Elder Oscar Irvin officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Posts 3/265.
