Harold Eugene "Bud" Gilliam, 79, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012. Bud proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for 27 years at the Kingsport Press and was founder of Kwick Transport, formerly Gilliam Cab Company. Bud enjoyed fishing and driving.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Gilliam; mother, Sally Lou McKensie; and first wife, Shirley W. Gilliam.
Bud is survived by his wife, Deborah Debbie Gilliam; daughter, Kitty Bishop and husband, Dale; two sons, Chip Gilliam and wife, Sharon, and Jimmy Gilliam and wife, Susie; six grandchildren, Mary Collins and husband, Cory, Michelle Gilliam, Chris Strode and wife, Stephanie, Amanda Royston and husband, Jason, Cailah Gilliam and Derrick Gilliam; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Davenport and husband, Harold, Debbie Oaks and husband, Gilbert, and Freda Wright; brother, Larry Garber and wife, Ann; several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Robley Bedford and wife, Joan.
Bud lived a full life until his death.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 5th from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. There will be a prayer by James Royston and a song sung by Cory Collins.
