Harold Edward Harrison

Harold Edward Harrison, 83, of Gray, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. A life-long resident of Washington County, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Upon receiving his degree from Bowling Green University, he taught at a military academy and then in the Sullivan County School System, from where he retired.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves a loving legacy with both family and friends as he did so much for others.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer D. and Rose Harrison; a sister, Barbara Sue Culbertson; and two brothers, Clarence Harrison and Kyle Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Church Harrison; two daughters, Donna Raphael, of Gray, and Deborah Harrison-Wagner and husband Rick, also of Gray; three grandchildren, Tyler Sewell and wife Chauntee, Daniel Wagner, and DeAndra Sewell; a sister, Christine Deakins and husband Ross; sisters-in-law Bonnie Harrison and Nell Harrison; a brother-in-law, Leonard Culbertson; several nieces and nephews; and several special friends, Carl Childress, Jack Carter, and Gordon Zolman.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Washington County Memory Gardens with Pastor Garry Eads officiating and military rites by the American Legion Posts 3/265. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the graveside.
