Harold Lewis Horne, Sr

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."
Psalm 121:1-2

Harold "Butch" Lewis Horne, Sr. peacefully took hold of the outstretched hand of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and stepped into Eternity on October 9, 2009. He died at home surrounded by family. He bravely fought the good fight against cancer and won, receiving the gift of eternal life. Butch was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents James W. Horne, Sr. and Nellie Bula Bullion Horne of Indian Springs; two brothers, E.D. and Claude Horne, both of Blountville; and three sisters, Mable Nye and Nita Loudermilk of Ohio and Ruth Brumett of Bristol.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Shelia Hawks Horne; son Harold Lewis Horne, Jr. and wife Alison, children Abby and Nick of Blountville; son Darren Lee Horne and wife Juliette, children J.D., Bryan, Hanna Joy, Lucas, Levi, Malachi, and Darren, Jr. of Lowell, Indiana; daughter Rebecca D. Horne Henderson and husband Joey, children Carrie, Ruth Elizabeth, Joseph, and Grace of Waterloo, South Carolina.

Papaw Horne was always very proud of his 13 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his "crumb snatchers".

Harold is also survived by 3 brothers: J. W. Horne, Jr. and wife Joyce of Jonesborough, Roy Horne and wife Joyce of Arkansas, and John Horne and wife Linda of Kingsport; and 3 sisters: Carrie Woodard and Nancy Black of Blountville and Mary Garrett of Jonesborough, and several nieces and nephews.

We look forward with great joy to one day seeing him again "up yonder".

Family will be receiving friends at Fall Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, the funeral will take place following visitation with Rev. Tommy Haynes and Dr. Clay Austin officiating. Interment will be held Monday, October 12, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Gunnings Cemetery.
