Harold H. Jones, 70, of Kingsport, TN passed away peacefully on May 15, 2011, surrounded by his family. Harold suffered from complications related to kidney failure for the last several years.
He was a native of Church Hill, Tennessee and lived in Kingsport, TN most of his adult life. Harold graduated from Church Hill High School and later earned both a Bachelor and Masters Degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1997 after 32 years of service. Harold was always generous with his time and "fix it wizardry" and never hesitated to help someone with a home repair or car problem. In his later years, Harold loved to fish in the Gulf of Mexico from his residence in Anna Maria, FL. It always gave him great joy to take friends and family to good fishing spots and help them bring home lots of fish.
He truly represented by example the scripture: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Harold was a member of Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church in Kingsport and was an affiliate member of Roser Memorial Church in Anna Maria.
Harold was preceded in death by his father Hancil B. Jones and mother Flora H. Jones.
He leaves his loving wife of 44 years, Bonnie M. Jones of Kingsport; a daughter, Amy J. MacKenzie of Anchorage, AK; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel E. and Angela W. Jones, their children, Nathan and Sarah, of Land O' Lakes, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Samuel D. and Linda W. Jones of Kingsport; and sister-in-law Carol M. Clements and her husband Irv Clements of Anna Maria, FL.
The family will receive friends at the home Friday, May 20, 2011 by arrangement please call 813.924.1706, or on Saturday from 10:30 am-12 pm at Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church.
Services will be conducted at the church at 12 noon Saturday with Rev. Susan Lankford officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Jones, Jeremy Osborne, Bob Winstead, Eric Williams, and Brian Williams.
