Harold L. "Bill" Kearney Jr

Harold L. "Bill" Kearney, Jr., 94, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Asbury Place at Kingsport.
Born in New Orleans, LA on March 27, 1923, the son of the late Dr. Harold L. and Sarah Knight McLaughlin Kearney. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Louisiana College in 1948 and continued his education in a Theological Seminary in TX, where he met his wife, Isabel Hunt Kearney. Bill worked for Dynamic Engineering and Bell Helicopter. He also managed motels in TX and Bristol, TN. After retiring, Bill loved tending his vegetable and flower gardens.
A devout Christian, Sunday School teacher, and faithful student of God's word. His testimony of God's greatness was shown by serving and investing in the lives of others in his home, churches, and community.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Isabel Kearney; sisters, Katherine Kearney of Kirksville, MO; and Flora McLaughlin Kearny of Muncie, IN.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 12-1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow with Brother Charles G. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
We wish to extend our gratitude to those who cared for Mr. Kearney in his final days. Our heartfelt thanks to a special friend, Becky Frazier, for her commitment in facilitating Mr. Kearney's care, providing peace of mind, and support for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery Care Fund, 491 Beulah Church Rd., Kingsport, TN 37663.
May his kind heart and generous spirit live on in all those who knew him. His prayer was that we will be ready for the rapture and spend eternity in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
