Harold Nappier

Harold B. Nappier, born January 9, 1943, passed from death unto life on March 10, 2025. The son of Geroge Nappier and Nell Virginia Nappier Baldwin, Harold grew up in Stonega, Virginia with one brother, William Nappier of Arroyo Grande, CA (Mary) and one sister, Arteenia Nappier Sackett (Dick). Harold attended Appalachia High School and afterward served his country in the United States Air Force, spending his last year of service in Vietnam.

In 1964, Harold married the only love of his lifetime, Carolyn Belcher Nappier. Harold and Carolyn celebrated 60 years of marriage on December 31, 2024. Throughout Harold’s life he enjoyed many hobbies including horseback riding, making stained glass lamps, flying planes and trap and skeet shooting and hunting. Harold was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church and loved being a part of the COED A Sunday school class family. Throughout many of his retirement years, he traveled internationally to serve God and his people through short term mission work. He served the southeast region through his volunteer work with the Sullivan Baptist Disaster Relief organization.

Harold lived his life with a servants heart and leaves a legacy of faith and integrity. In his final year, he stewarded his journey with cancer well, using every opportunity to share the peace of Christ that surpassed his human understanding.

One of Harold’s greatest joys was spending time with his daughter Cynthia and her family. A dinner at their home consisting of something Tim grilled or smoked was one of his favorite activities. He enjoyed skeet shooting with Reece, appreciated Air Force conversations with his grandson (in law) Stetson; and when he attended Lily’s choir concerts and Avery’s basketball games, he was the one in the crowd with the biggest smile.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, three beloved brothers in law and a beloved sister-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, daughter Cynthia Carr (Tim Carr), granddaughters Reece Carr Gatlin (Stetson), Lily Carr, Avery Carr, his brother William (Mary), three sisters in law (Teresa Belcher, Barbara Rutherford, Betty Rowland), a brother-in-law (Paul Belcher, Alice) and several nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private burial service with military honors. Friends will be received at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home of Kingsport on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. preceding a funeral service at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Rayburn officiating.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Indian Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
