Harold R. Slemp, 76, Kingsport, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014. Harold attended Lynn View High School. He joined the Navy and following the Navy worked for Sperry/Univac. Harold later became a residential developer working on projects including Preston Forest, Chesterfield, Quail Creek, Ridgefields, Breckinridge and Fall Creek. He was a car enthusiast, particularly Corvettes. Harold loved his grandchildren dearly, they were the love and joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joel Slemp, and parents, Agnes and Elmer Slemp.
Harold is survived by his sons, Michael Cusack and Gregory Slemp; daughter, Tiffany Slemp; grandchildren, Gabriel Slemp and Mary Grace; brothers, Donald M. Slemp and wife, Joy, and James E. Slemp and friend, Sherry Wells; sister, Carol Grubb and husband, Charles; brother, Larry W. Slemp and wife, Sandra; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and Mary Slemp, the mother of his children and caregiver.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 11-1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Baker officiating. Burial will follow the service at Logans Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donald Slemp, James Slemp, Asher Kessous, Travis Trent, Rick Jones and Richard Frazier.
