Harold Wright

Harold B. Wright, 83, Kingsport, who was saved 10 days ago, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013, surrounded by his family following an extended period of poor health. He was born in Kingsport, where he had lived his entire life. H.B. was in security at the Kingsport Press, retiring after 39 years of service. He attended Ross Campground United Methodist Church. He was a coach and pitcher for the Kingsport Press for many years. H.B. was an avid fisherman and coached the boys in Lynn Gardens pee wee football. He loved to garden and was known for growing big tomatoes. H.B. was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he worked in the engineering department. While in the Army he was a golden gloves boxer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Nancy Wright, an infant son, son, Greg, six brothers and six sisters.

H.B. is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Vivian Wright; sons, Randy Wright and wife, Mae of Rogersville, TN, and Tim Wright of Kingsport; daughters, Pam Pratt and husband of Church Hill, TN, and Deanna Clark and husband, Joel of Kingsport, TN; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces nephews and cousins; and special love to his pet, Pebbles. A special thanks to his hospice nurses and caregivers.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Calvin S. Tabor, Sr. officating

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:45 am in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers Justin Skeens, Phillip Mallory, Scott Gaby, Scott Pratt, Michael Cooper and Douglas Hall.
