Harris P. Cantrell

Harris P. Cantrell, 82, of Kingsport, TN, passed away Friday morning, November 10, 2023, with family at his side. Born in Liberty, TN, Harris attended the Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN and then earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University. Following his education, Harris worked in sales for Eastman Kodak Company, and later Eastman Chemical Company, retiring as a Distributor Chemicals Sales Manager after 35 years. During his lifetime, Harris was recognized on numerous occasions for his selfless service to the Kingsport community and beyond. Along with his wife, Harris cooked and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. At the time of his death, he remained a dedicated member of Rotary International, having been a member of the Kingsport Downtown chapter for nearly 25 years, serving as the Executive Secretary for 23 of those years. Harris was a member of First Presbyterian Church and loved to play golf, travel the world with his wife and spend time with lifelong friends and family.

Harris was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Hicks Cantrell; his son, Bryan Scott Cantrell; and his parents, Harris Cantrell and Grace Bratten Medley.

Harris is survived by his daughter, Leslie Bratten Cantrell Wolfgang and husband, Tom of Signal Mountain, TN; and daughter-in-law, Juanita Hurst and husband, Shawn of Kingsport, TN.

A private family inurnment will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium with Dr. William Shelton officiating. The family invites you to join them at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport from Noon to 2:00 on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, to honor Harris and reminisce on a life well lived.
