Harris Parker

Michael "Harris" Stephen Parker, 33, Johns Island formerly of Kingsport passed away December 3, 2016.

He was born November 3, 1983 in Knoxville, TN. He grew up in Kingsport, TN, attended Kingsport Christian School and graduated from Sullivan South High School in 2001. After high school, Harris moved to upstate New York for culinary school. He lived and worked at several restaurants as a chef and a baker in the Lake Placid area for eight years. In 2009, he moved to South Carolina and enjoyed working as the Chef for Chez Fish on Johns Island until its closing in 2015. Most recently, he worked as a Chef for LoKal in the Bohicket Marina on Johns Island.

Harris always put others before himself. He was always a man of his word and was a good son and brother and a great friend to many. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Norma Andrews and Jerry Simpson, Sr. and his paternal grandparents, Lois and Charles Parker.

Survivors include his mother and step father, Janet and Nyles Crawford, Kingsport; his father, Doug Parker of Johns Island, SC; half-brother, Arran Parker of California; half-sister, Amanda Parker, Johns Island, SC; step-brothers, William Walker and Max McLaughlin; several cousins, aunts and uncles; special friends, David Harris, Michael Collins and Bruce and Patsy Strong.

The family will receive friends from 3-5pm Saturday December 17, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Downtown.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:00pm Saturday in the chapel with Pastor Jim Kilgore officiating.
