Harry C Bowyer

Harry C. Bowyer, 78, Kingsport, died on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.  Harry graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1959. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army and was awarded “Soldier of the Year” while in the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.   He received his B.S. degree in Accounting from ETSU, later graduating from UT Law School in 1967. Harry then went on to practice law in Kingsport, also serving as chairman of the Sullivan County Republican Party.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Bowyer and Nemise Bowyer; sister, Marjorie; and brothers, John and Bob Bowyer; the mother of his boys, who he always loved, Evelyn Solomon Bowyer.

Harry is survived by his twin sons, John and Harry Bowyer; and sister, Sue Hall.

A military graveside service will be held on Monday at 10:45 am at Mountain Home National Cemetery, with Pastor Will Shewey officiating and military honors conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.  

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday at 1:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
