Harry F. Frazier
Heaven's gates opened wide as Harry Frederick Frazier, 95, of Kingsport, proudly entered into his Heavenly home. His earthly journey began March 31, 1914 in Princeton, WV and passed away on April 23, 2009 at Wellmont Hospital following a brief illness. He was a graduate of Athens High School receiving an honorable mention as an "all-state tackle" from the state of West Virginia.
His storytelling on the farm, White reunions, family gatherings, cake walks, pie suppers and his humor telling jokes will not be forgotten. We will especially remember his favorite saying that he wrote each year in his Christmas cards reminding each of us that spring was just around the corner. He left his earthly world recently celebrating his 95th on God's earth with his family.
Most of all, his in-depth Biblical knowledge and Bible teachings were his gift to all. He shared these as a Sunday School teacher for 25 years at First Christian Church, later joining the family of Oakwood Forest Christian Church.
He was knowledgeable in history, relating often about the Martins and McCoys and John Henry, the Steel-Driving man whose monument he was photographed with in Hinton, WV. He was active in the Kingsport elections volunteering his time. He was also a member of the Downtown Optimist Club.
He came to Kingsport and was employed at Eastman Kodak for 17 years. He then entered the sales field with Kirby Vacuum Cleaners. He joined W.A. Allan Real Estate as a house/land appraiser and later with J.T. Parker Insurance and Real Estate Co. earning "Salesman of the Year" for 1971 and serving as President of the Board of Realtors while playing a little golf along the way!
He was an avid yard and organic gardener, specializing in producing 3-lb. "Beef Master" tomatoes. He rejoiced in sharing his produce with friends and neighbors until his health declined. His hard work earned the award-winning "home beautification" certificate from the City of Kingsport.
Mr. Frazier was the son of the late George and Lelia Frazier. His late brothers, Loyd and Ray, and one sister, Helen, have all welcomed him "home". His dear wife of 46 years, Iris Cooper Frazier, and great-grandson, Wade Court, have all reunited.
Left to celebrate his home-going are two daughters, Carolyn G. Wallace and husband Ronnie T. Wallace of Kingsport and Brenda D. Kendall and husband John L. Kendall of Frederick, Maryland; his three beloved grandchildren, Scott Wallace of Asheville, NC, and Katherine Katie Court and Daniel Kendall, both of Frederick, Maryland; his three precious great-granddaughters, Kendall, Grace and Sophia Court of Frederick, Maryland; as well as one loving brother, Okey Frazier of Kingsport; his loving nieces, nephews and cousins in Kingsport and West Virginia; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Frazier Long of Kingsport. Also, a very special thanks to his loving nieces, Jan Laughters and Judy Sanders, and cousin Helen Roseberry.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Marlin Jaynes officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Elmcroft Assisted Living and Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center/Wilcox Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oakwood Forest Christian Church at 1713 E. Sevier Avenue; Kingsport, TN 37664.
