Harvey Edward Zabel, 75, of Fall Branch, TN, died Sunday morning, July 1, 2007, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born in Fairbury, Nebraska, March 3, 1932. He resided most of his adult life in Yuma, Arizona, before moving to Fall Branch 15 years ago. He graduated from the University of Nebraska and served his country as a pilot in the United States Navy. Following his service in the Navy, he began a career in banking with Valley National Bank in Yuma, Arizona, where he eventually retired as an area vice president. He was a past president of the Yuma Chamber of Commerce and of the Caballeros De Yuma. Ed was also a former chairman of the City of Yuma Personnel Board and served both as a member of the Yuma County Airport Authority?s Board of Directors and as it?s treasurer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Homer Zabel, his mother, Helen Timmel Zabel and his sister, Marion Zabel Snyder.

Surviving are his wife, Letha Belle Guy Zabel of the home; his children, Harvey Edward Zabel, Jr. of the home, Cynthia Parker, Seattle, Washington; Amy Olsen, Charleston, SC; Cynthia Rogers, Kingsport, TN; and Michael Howe, Fall Branch, TN; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Zabel of Hutchinson, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, TN.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Howe Jr., Steve Rogers Jr., Josh Rogers, C. J. Hallack, John Conkin, and Shane Hatcher.
