Haskew Devault Fickle, Jr., 76, Piney Flats, TN, went home to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center with his family by his side.
Junior was born in Montebello, CA but spent most of his life in Sullivan County Kingsport and Piney Flats. He attended Hulls Chapel Methodist Church for many years and retired from the construction business. Junior loved the outdoors- hunting, fishing, and farming. He was also an avid race fan, having raced for many years at the various dirt track speedways.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Margaret Lance, Bakersfield, CA; father, Haskew D. Fickle, Sr., Piney Flats, TN and brother, Sam Fickle, Greeneville, TN.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Anna Norris Fickle of the home, three sons, Bob Fickle and fiancée Sandy Sproles, Piney Flats, TN; Don Fickle and fiancée Tiffany Blazer, Morristown, TN; and Mike Fickle, Piney Flats, TN; three daughters, Diane Fickle, Kingsport, TN; Karen Sue Kitzmiller and husband Rick a special hunting pal, Colonial Heights Community Kingsport, TN; Glenda Miller and husband Carl, Piney Flats, TN; two grandsons, Tony Stallcup, Blountville, TN; and Josh Douthat and wife Paige, Piney Flats, TN; two brothers, James Naff Fickle and wife Ramona, Canal Winchester, OH; and Joe Wayne Fickle, Bakersfield, CA; two half brothers, Jerry Fickle and wife Carol, Columbus, OH; Roy Sells and wife Elaine, Blountville, TN; three half sisters, Dorothy Ensor, Greeneville, TN; Judy Phillips and husband Roger, Mosheim, TN; and Susie Garland and husband Ray, Blountville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport, followed by services at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Johnny Gibson and Pastor David Salley officiating. Music will be provided by the singers from the Way of Life Church.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens, Blountville, TN. Friends are welcome to come by any time at the home of daughter, Karen Sue Kitzmiller, 5036 Lake Forest Drive, Colonial Heights Kingsport to help celebrate the life of our beloved Junior.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Culbertson, Aaron Christian, Robbie Norris, Steve Neal, David Crabtree, and J. Fred Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be special friends: Donnie Roberts, Robert ?Cotton? Johnson, Joe Hicks, Donnie Clendenin, Ralph Necessary, and Jim Frazier.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the nurses in MICU at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center who provided special care to Junior, to the many doctors who worked effortlessly to make him well, and to the friends we made in the waiting room for the past two weeks who gave us support and encouragement.
