Haynes Jewel Carr

Haynes Jewel Carr, 93, Piney Flats, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 27, 2025, at his home. He was born in Kingsport on August 5, 1931, to the late Austin and Lucille Carr; he was one of eight siblings. Haynes worked for Lester’s Road service as a diesel mechanic for many years. After his retirement, he was able to spend his days doing what he truly loved, fishing on the lake and spending quality time with his family. Haynes was a devoted Christian and lived each day proudly serving the Lord. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Marie Carr; daughter, Connie Carr; son, Gary Carr Sr.; brothers, Curt Carr, Tim Carr, Don Carr, Lynn Carr and Kenneth Carr; sisters, Mick Hensley and Juanita Hensley and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Bardo.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Steve Carr (Debbie) of Telford, TN, Jeff Carr (Sandy) of Elizabethton, TN, and Randy Carr (Brenda) of Oregon, IL; grandchildren, Brandon Carr (Wendy), Mindy Roberts (Danny), Tequisha Reed (Robbie), Cara Carr, Shane Bardo (Ashley), Jessica Parker (Travis), Gaye Durst (David) and Gary Carr Jr. (Angel) and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 11:00am at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery 930 Ryan Rd. Fall Branch, TN 37641. Guests are asked to meet at 10:00am at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home – Kingsport Chapel to go in procession to the cemetery. Pastor Kenny Lethcoe and Rev. Justin Deaton will officiate the service. Music will be under the direction of Pastor Kenny Lethcoe and Kathy Lethcoe. 

Pallbearers will be Brandon Carr, Danny Carr, Wyatt Carr, Jaden Collins, Robbie Reed and Ronnie Hensley.

The family would like to thank the team at Amedisys Hospice and special caregivers, Carol Sims and Stephanie Lispcomb for their dedicated care of Mr. Carr.
