Hazel Hurd Blalock, 94, passed away September 13, 2009, at Asbury Place, Netherland Inn Health Care Center at Baysmont.
She was born August 9, 1915, in Hancock County, Tennessee. Hazel lived in Evanston, Wyoming for 20 years and then moved to Kingsport where she spent the remainder of her life.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Sherman Blalock; parents, James and Dora Hurd; two brothers, Roy Hurd and Charles Hurd; three sisters, Rettie Hurd Alsup, Ruby Hurd Hall and Elizabeth Hurd Light.
Survivors include one sister, Juanita Hurd Horton of Kingsport; two brothers, Conley Hurd of Kingsport, James M. Hurd of Fayetteville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
A closed casket and graveside services were Hazel s wishes.
The graveside service will be conducted 2:00pm Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45pm.
