Hazel M. Crook Dickens, 79, Kingsport, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 after a brief illness.
Hazel spent most of her life in Kingsport. She was a Treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW where she had held many other offices. Hazel was also a member of the M.O.C.A. of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard Dickens; father and mother, Worley and Gladys Crook; and daughter-in-law, Leisa Dickens.
Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Ragsdale and husband Bill, Kingsport; son, Mark Dickens, Kingsport; three grandsons, Jeremiah Ragsdale and wife Rebecka, Richard Dustin "Dusty" Dickens and wife Beth, and T. J. Dickens; five great-grandchildren; one brother, James Glen Crook and wife Bobbie of Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Joe W. Byrd officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, 130 VFW Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.
