Hazel Virginia Wheeler Hutson, 88, of Kingsport, died early Friday morning, September 24, 2010, at Lifecare Center of Gray after an extended illness. Hazel was born in Coeburn, VA. She married G. W. Wheeler and moved to Kingsport where she resided the rest of her life.
Hazel had worked part-time at Parks-Belk Department Store, but was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, G. W. Wheeler and Hobert "Hobe" Hutson, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Harold Wheeler, of Kingsport, Gerald Wheeler, Pagosa Springs, CO, and Gary Wheeler and wife, Bridget, Basalt, CO; two daughters, Betty Ann Pitman, Williamsburg, VA, and Priscilla Steele, Roan Mountain, TN; nine grandchildren, Karen Wine and husband, George, of Gray, Jason Wheeler and wife, Kim, Kingsport, Chris Wheeler and Michael Wheeler, both of CO, Kay Alligood, Gwen McComas, Kelly Toth, all of VA, Beverly Steele and Jennifer Steele, both of Roan Mountain; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Maples, Coeburn, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, on Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Services will be conducted at 7:00, with Rev. Rich Fifield officiating.
Entombment will be Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Blountville.
