Hazel Lucille (Simpson) King

Hazel Lucille (Simpson) King, 87, Kingsport, was called home on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Hazel was born in Rogersville on March 23, 1937, to the late Asa and Julia Simpson. She was a proud member of Vermont United Methodist Church and Fisherman’s Class Sunday School. As a devoted Christian, her love for the Lord was unwavering. Through her many years of work in food service management, she developed a love for cooking; Feeding her family and friends home cooked meals brought her immense joy. While she was able, Hazel had a “get up and go” mindset and traveling was one of her favorite pastimes. She was always up for a trip to the mountains, the beach or a new destination to explore. With an eye for beauty in nature, she loved gardening and admiring flowers. She had a kind and loving spirit about her, although stubborn at times, she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Hazel, along with her late husband, created a beautiful family who will cherish her memory for generations to come.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Denver King; son, Tim King; and all her siblings.

Survivors include her children, Debra Martinez (Jesus), Donnie King (Barbie), Jeff King (Maria); daughter-in-law, Denise King; grandchildren, Tiffany Adams, Julia Adams, Brandon King (Jessika), Rachel King, Sydnie King, Travis King (Morgan) and Wesley Martinez; great-grandchildren, Caleb Cole, Avery Cole, Colin Adams, Everlee King, Laykin King and Elijah Jones; several nieces and nephews; best friend, Lola Dean and beloved sidekick, her dog Buddy.
