Hazel Penley

Hazel Penley, 74, of Kingsport, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Hawkins County and had resided in Sullivan County since 1978. Hazel attended Gray Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Penley; infant son, Carson Penley; son, Rex Penley; parents, Homer and Fronnie Light; three infant brothers, Cleo, Clay and Olin Light; twin brother, Harlan Light; two brothers, Jack and Don Light; and three sisters, Dorothy Crawford, Vernie Compton and Mae Webb.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Brenda Little and husband, Walter of Kingsport; daughter-in-law, Kathy Penley of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Lisa Marie Little, Ricky and Harlan Penley and Makala Penley; three brothers, Carson Light and wife Nancy of Rogerville, James Light of Rogersville, and Junior Light and wife, Reba of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Darin Harrison and Rev. Rickie Bowser officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Dykes, Michael Dykes, Randall Compton, Johnny Light, Ronnie Rines, Tommy Lucas and Ricky Penley. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Compton, Haskell Rines, Robert Light, Jimmie Light, nieces, Barbara, Kathy, Mildred, Alice, Lisa, Annette, Angie and Mitzi.

The family would like to thank Mountain States Hospice and Legacy Home Care for their care with a special thanks to Shamrock with Mountain States Hospice. They would also like to thank all family and friends for their prayers and kindness during Hazel's illness.
