Hazel Garner Vance, 92, passed away Thursday January 25, 2007 at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation- Hillside in Kingsport.
She was born to the late Roy and Maude Garner in Knoxville, TN. Hazel attended Maryville College and later graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in mathematics. While in attendance at the University of Tennessee, she met her future husband Edgar. She and her husband began their married life in Kingsport and while he was employed with Tennessee Eastman Company they lived in Cuba and Switzerland.
Mrs. Vance was an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband T. Edgar Vance, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons Dr. James E. Vance wife Sidney, North Palm Beach, FL; Larry G. Vance wife Carol Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Lori Vance Sullivan husband Daniel, Calabasas, CA; and James E. Vance, Jr. wife Delores Palm Beach, FL; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, TN with Dr. David Cagle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660 or to the organization of one?s choice.
