Helen J. Fanis Holmes "Tootsie", 72, of Kingsport, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Indian Path Medical Center due to cardiac arrest.
Born in Wilder, VA, she had resided in Church Hill from 1973 to 1998 and had resided in Kingsport since 1998. Tootsie worked at Oakwood Super Markets for several years.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Budge, Jim, Bill, and Bobby Fanis; and sister, Betty Miller.
Surviving are her husband, James K. Holmes of the home; daughter, Toni Ball and husband, Leonard of Kingsport; son, Joey Holmes and wife, Jeanne of Kingsport; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Jeffers of Kingsport, Dorothy "Dottie" Sykes of Bristol, and Wilma Mutter of Abingdon, VA; two brothers, Johnny Fanis of McChesney Park, Illinois and Richard "Whitey" Fanis of Abingdon, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Ball and Rev. Darrell Harmon officiating.
Arrangements concerning the graveside service are pending and will be announced Tuesday morning.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
