Helen J. Hurd

Helen Janet Hurd, 88, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 at her home.

Helen was born in Neon, Kentucky. She moved to Kingsport at 17. She worked at Kingsport Press where she met her husband of 58 years, Frank Hurd. She was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church.

Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hurd; parents, Charlie and Bertie Huff; sister, Dolores Bischoff.

She is survived by three sons Rev. Steven Hurd, S.J., Phil Hurd and wife Colleen, Tim Hurd and wife Shannon; one daughter Susie Negrotto and husband Scott Negrotto; six grandchildren Sara Negrotto, Shelly Thompson and husband Brandon, John Hurd, Alex Hurd, Hannah Hurd, and Will Hurd; 3 great-grandchildren Madison, Hadley and Ty Thompson; one brother, Charles Huff; two sisters Patsy McConnell and Norma Clark; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 am on Thursday at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 2517 John B Dennis Hwy, Kingsport.

A funeral mass will follow at 12:00 pm. Officiant will be Rev. Steve Hurd, SJ. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
