Helen Frances Jones

Helen Frances Jones, of Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep, on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2020, at her niece's home in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 94. Although she was the mother of none, she raised or helped to raise many children and gave her love to all. This love filled her life and came out in the tender way she listened to our stories and the contagious joy and laughter she shared with us. This laughter would spill from the doorways of Fall Branch’s grand central station, also known as Feather’s Beauty Shop, and into the homes by the retelling of her puns, jokes, and beauty shop antics. She was a scrupulous chronicler of the family and village’s special moments, through her library of photobooks and miles of video tapes.

The welcoming committee in Heaven will be made up of her mom, Cora Hendry Jones, father, Bert Jones, and sisters Mildred, Annie and Rosie, all lost to her by the time she was 15. Her brothers Casey, Mitchell, Bill, and Howard along with Nephews David and Junior will be there.

She will be reunited with her special sister (in-law), Treva Jones, wife of Bill, with whom she resided for over 20 years. They were known as either the Golden Girls or the Blues Sisters to everyone who saw them running the roads in Helen’s white Cadillac with their big dark glasses on their smiling faces. Helen’s motto “You gotta have a little fun in life” was with her until the end. She will be dearly missed on this earth by her eight nieces and nephews, more than a dozen grandnephews and nieces, and dear friends that count in the thousands.

Due to Covid19 restrictions, graveside services only will be Saturday, May 16 at 12 noon at Lovelace Baptist Church with Pastor Allan Brummett officiating. In a celebration and honor of her life, Miss Helen will take her last ride through Fall Branch, leaving from Hamlet Dobson Funeral Home in Fall Branch at 11:30 a.m., going north by her beloved Feathers Beauty Shope, continuing to turn around at the Fall Branch Fire station, and back down to Lovelace Rd.. ending at her beloved Lovelace Church. For anyone wanting the opportunity to wave goodbye please feel free to wave from anywhere along the route.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Danny Dykes, 930 Ryan Rd., Fall Branch, TN 37656.
