Helen Mays

Helen L. Mays, 77, Lebanon, VA, formerly of Kingsport, went home Tuesday morning, February 6, 2007, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Kingsport and resided most of her life in Kingsport. Mrs. Mays was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School class of 1948. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Her husband, Emmett Mays, parents, Ernest and Anna Smith, two sisters, Virginia Salyer and Ella Ruth Austin preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Timothy Mays, Lebanon, VA; two grandchildren, Lori Mays and Alex Mays, Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Sarah Biddison, Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law, Joe Mays, Kingsport, TN; special friend Christine Smith and sons Jon Maxwell and Estil Cooper, Lebanon, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport and
1-2:00 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Church in Russell County, VA.

Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Daryl Baker and Rev. Cuba Porter officiating.

Pallbearers are Ernest Austin, Jerry Wheatley, Tony Mays, Joel Lloyd, Jon Maxwell, Jerry Lampkins, Tom Morton, and Allen Morton.

Honorary pallbearers are Claude Mays, Robert Porter, Thomas Porter, John Mason, and Nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Mays Family Cemetery, Castlewood, VA.
