Helen Pauline Powell Williams, 78, lost her four-year-battle with cancer on Monday, April 23, 2007, and has gone home to be with the Lord.
Helen and her husband, Donald, are members of the Heritage First Church of God and were active in maintenance and cleaning of the church. Helen attended Sullivan High School in her youth and was a noted pianist, playing for the Sproles Quartet in the 1940?s & 1950?s. She raised her family in northeast Pennsylvania while working as a retail clerk in several businesses. Helen and Donald relocated back to Kingsport 6 years ago. Helen was a loving wife, mother, and friend.
Helen was preceded in death by parents, Lemuel L. and Ottie Mae Powell.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Williams, of Kingsport; her children, Ann Littleton and husband, Sherman, of Kingsport, Robert Parker and wife, Teresa, of Kingsport, David Parker and wife, Chris, of Morristown, James Parker and wife, Melissa, of Chattanooga, Neil Williams of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Kathy Burr and husband, Rick, of Reno, NV, and Mark Williams and wife, Debbie, of Ringgold, GA; and her grandchildren, Rebecca Quillen, Rodney Barrett, Brandon, Brian, Cody, and Tyler Parker, Aaron Sholes, Christy Tracy, Jessica and Steven Williams. There are also several great-grandchildren.
The family would like to take this time to express their thanks and gratitude to all of those on the Hospice Staff that have been attending Helen for the past 3 months. Also, all the friends and loved ones who have been so supportive over the past few months. We could not have made it through these times without you.
Friends will be received at any time at the home of Donald and Helen and also Ann and Sherman Littleton. A memorial service will be held for Helen on Thursday, April 26th at Heritage First Church of God, 470 Rock Springs Road, Kingsport, TN. Family will begin receiving friends there at 6:00 pm, with the service to follow at 7:00 p.m.
