Herbert "Herbie" Depew, 84, of Kingsport, joined his beloved wife, AnnaLee, in Heaven on Monday, September 10, 2012.
Herbert was born on March 17, 1928. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in Germany at the end of WW II. He retired from Eastman Kodak after 35 years of service in the HQ Dept. of Organic Chemicals Division.
Mr. Depew was of Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, AnnaLee Lambert Depew, parents, John Wesley and Elizabeth Depew, brother, Fulton Depew, sisters, Geneva Greer and Juanita Strong.
Mr. Depew is survived by his children, Janice Townsend of Ashboro, NC, Ken Depew and wife Cathy of Blountville, Debbie Church and husband, Bobby of Gray, and Brian Depew of Kingsport, grandchildren, Jerusha Depew, Jessica Lodle, Jordan Depew, Todd Stump, Zach Ralston and Annie Hayes, six great grandchildren, sister, Mildred LeBlanc and husband, Gillis of Kingsport, sister-in-law, Linda Shupe and husband, Alex of Church Hill, and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff of Church Hill Healthcare.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport and anytime at the home of his daughter, Debbie Church, 179 Village Lane, Gray TN. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Deese officiating. Music will be provided by Tom Wills.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Cox Family Cemetery in Nickelsville, VA. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Posts 3/265 and the Virginia National Guard.
Pallbearers will be Gillis LeBlanc, Jordon Depew, Jason Lodle, Greg Strong, Zach Ralston and Blake Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Shupe and Robert Wilder.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to God of Second Chances Missions GOSC, P.O. Box 6291, Kingsport, TN 37663.
