Herbert Dolen

Herbert Dolen, 85, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 26, 2019. He was born in Kingsport to the late Herman and Clara Click Dolen and had lived here all his life. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Eastman Kodak following 39 years of service. Herbert was active in the Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688, York Rite Bodies of East TN, Scottish Rite of Knoxville, KCCH, and Jericho Shrine. He drove children to the Shriners Hospital for treatment until his health prevented him. He attended Taylor Baptist until his health prevented him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray, and sister, Frances.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Earley Dolen; son, Gary Dolen, grandson, Matthew; two sisters, Norma Quillen and Sally Snider; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Chapman and Helen Dolen; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Shannon Powers officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. David Townsend officiating. Military rites will be presented by the American Legion honor guard, Posts 3/265.
