Herbert Lee Taylor, 71, of Fall Branch, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 31, 2008.

He was a native of Carter County, but spent most of his life in Greene County, Tennessee. Herbert served in the U. S. Air Force for four years from 1955-1959 and worked for Gulf Oil Distributors for many years of his life. He loved farming, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. He had a special love of animals and children. Herb will always be remembered for his deep love and devotion to his family, and especially for his love of God.

Herb was a born-again Christian and a member of Lovelace Baptist Church in Fall Branch.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lee Taylor in 1991 and his mother, Arabelle Taylor in 2003.

Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Mima Jean Gouge Taylor; two daughters and one son, Deborah and Glenn Hillman of Fall Branch, Darryl and Yendiame Taylor of Fall Branch, and Barbara Charlton and Rick Jones of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Jeremy Thornburg, Melony Cox, Nikki Charlton, Brad Thornburg, and Derrick Taylor; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Taylor and wife Darlene, Kenneth Taylor and wife Phyllis; several nieces and nephews; and all of his many friends around the Fall Branch area.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch and anytime at the Taylor residence or home of his daughter, Deborah Hillman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Lovelace Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Baker, Glenn Hillman, and E. B. Moore officiating and music and songs provided by Allen Brummitt.

Interment will follow at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the V.F.W. Pallbearers will be Efferet Barrett, Jeremy Cox, Norman Davis, Harold Greene, Derrick Taylor, Brad Thornburg, Jeremy Thornburg, and Rick Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug McKinney, Clyde Garland, and Darrell Odom.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lovelace Church Cemetery Fund, c/o E. B. Moore, 102 Horton Highway, Fall Branch, TN 37656.
