Herman E. Davis, 86, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He retired as a chemist from Eastman Kodak Company in 1988. Herman was a devoted member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Walk to Emmaus Community. He was a Mason with the Kingsport Lodge #688 F & A M, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Davis; son-in-law, Mike Skelton; and twin granddaughters, Lana and Leah Skelton.
Herman is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Ervin Davis; daughters, Judy Hicks and husband, Lynn of Kingsport, and Martha Parker and husband, Joe of Blountville; daughter-in-law, Darla Odum Davis of Huntersville, NC; eight grandchildren, Jenny Fain and husband, Chris, Wes Hicks and wife, Bethany, Michael Hicks, Katie Skelton, Lauren Skelton, Daniel Skelton, Lucas Parker and Amy McKay; three great-grandchildren, Emily Fain, Anna Fain and Lydia Hicks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Donna Hester officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Hicks, Michael Hicks, Daniel Skelton, Lucas Parker, Chris Fain, Joe Haynes, Lynn Musich, Ed Daugherty and Gary Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Fields, Talmadge Rogers, Glenn Gott and Brown Overbay.
