Herman Junior Ketron

Herman Junior "Red" Ketron, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Kingsport, TN on August 6, 1924, a son of the late Habe and Lethea Ketron, he had resided in this area his entire life.

Mr. Ketron was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He retired from Holston Defense Corporation, 1982, following 35 years of service and was a well-known electrician for many years, a general contractor and developer. He was a Life Member of Sinking Creek Masonic Lodge.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, papaw, brother and friend who loved the Lord and his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who were helpful in his care.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Habe and Lethea Ketron; brothers, Paul Ketron and W. T. "Jack" Ketron; sister, Ruby Ketron; sons, Danny Ray and Mark Ketron; and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Ketron of the home; two sons, Tommy Ketron of Arkansas, Anthony Ketron and girlfriend, Jennifer Hovatter, of the home; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Lane, Janie Ketron and husband, Howard, all of Kingsport, and Shirley Peters of Florida; brother, Fred Ketron of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 p.m. by the Sinking Creek Masonic Lodge. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Roc Collins officiating.

A military graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the VFW Boone Dam Post.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
