Hershell V. Huff, 69, of Blountville, died Monday morning, May 26, 2008, at his home after injuries sustained while operating heavy equipment.
Born in Holmes Mill, Kentucky, he graduated from Anvil Methodist Boarding School in London, Kentucky and worked in Michigan for 10 years. He later worked as a builder/developer in New Albany, Indiana, Church Hill Volunteer Pointe, and Kingsport Edinburgh. He attended Grace Place Church. Hershell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid fisherman.
His parents, Virgil and Letha Huff, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Faye Huff of the home; two sons, Hershell V. Huff, Jr. of Ypsilanta, Michigan, Carey Dale Huff and wife Janis also of Ypsilanta; three grandchildren, Carey-Marie, Krista, and Nicole; five stepchildren, Danny Karst and wife Carla of Kingsport, David Karst and wife Jane of Harlan, Kentucky, Dennis Karst of Kingsport, Darin Karst and wife Tina of Kingsport, Danielle Karst of Washington, DC; eight step-grandchildren, Dustin, Diane, Darah, Anna, Ella, Eddie, Elizabeth, and William; two sisters, Sarah Gayhart and husband Orville of Georgetown, Indiana, Patricia Hilbert of Palm Harbor, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and special family members, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Gus Robbins.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Dr. Craig Fry, and Pastor Douglas S. Tweed, officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Huff Family Cemetery in Holmes Mill, Kentucky. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Huff, Paul Baker, Artie, Alfredo, Gonzales, and Hector.
